PETE BEST signed

This is my latest acquisition, former Beatles' drummer Pete Best. As you all know, Pete Best was the original drummer of the Beatles until Ringo Starr replaced him in 1962. He played with the Beatles in the Cavern, in the early days of the Casbah and in Hamburg. Some people used to say "if you haven't seen the Beatles with Pete Best, you haven't seen the Beatles".

Aquí está mi última adquisición, el autógrafo del batería original de los Beatles, Pete Best. Como todos sabéis, Pete Best fue el batería original de los Beatles hasta que fue sustituido por Ringo Starr en 1962. Pete tocó con los Beatles en la época del Cavern, Casbah y Hamburgo. Se llegó a decir que "si no habías visto tocar a los Beatles con Pete Best, no has visto tocar a los Beatles".

El pasado domingo la selección Española de Baloncesto se proclama por segunda vez consecutiva campeona de Europa de Baloncesto en Lituania. Tras llegar a Madrid y presentar el trofeo en la Moncloa, se reúnen con la afición en la Plaza del Callao, como ya nos van teniendo acostumbrados, para celebrar el título conseguido.

A pesar de que parecían haber recibido órdenes de no pararse a firmar autógrafos, conseguí que Paul Gasol y Juan Carlos Navarro (MVP del Torneo) firmaran en dos cuartillas de papel.

MIGUEL INDURAIN signed

Miguel Ángel Indurain Larraya (born 16 July 1964) is a retired Spanish road racing cyclist.He won the Tour de France from 1991 to 1995, the fourth to win five times and first to win five in a row. He won the Giro d'Italia on two occasions becoming one of only seven people in history to achieve the Giro Tour double in the same season. He wore the race leader's yellow jersey in the Tour de France for 60 days. Indurain's ability and physical size—1.88 m (6 ft 2 in) and 80 kg (176 lbs)—earned him the nickname "Miguelón" or "Big Mig". He was the youngest rider ever to win the Spanish amateur national road championship, when he was 18, at 20 the youngest rider to lead the Vuelta a España, and at 20 he won a stage of the Tour de L'Avenir. AUTOGRAFOS FLAMENCOS

De todos es sabido que el flamenco es un arte universal que ya ha traspasado muchas barreras al considerarse Patrimonio Intangible de la Humanidad. Eso significa que sus portavoces, que son las leyendas del flamenco que a su vez han sabido recoger la herencia de años y décadas atrás, son tan valiosos en sí como el mismo arte. Si no es por ellos, el flamenco no existiría. También es bueno ser conscientes de que con el paso del tiempo, estas leyendas van cumpliendo años y supone una sabia decisión verles al menos una vez en vivo, para ser testigos directos de la historia. Los flamencos de hoy en día tienen más técnica, quizás más sabiduría teórica, pero son los de antes los que se curtieron más con la vida y el camino, cuando no había Internet y para hacerse conocido había que hacer muchos kilómetros y hacerlo muy bien, para que funcionase con ellos el boca a boca.

Aquí dejo unas muestras de auténticos maestros del flamenco de siempre: JOSÉ MENESE, EL CABRERO y PACO CEPERO.


JOSE MENESE. José Meneses Scott (La Puebla de Cazalla, Sevilla) 1942 más conocido como José Menese, es un cantaor de flamenco andaluz. José Menese es uno de los mejores cantaores payos del momento presente y quizá añadir que va ser, que puede ser, en la actual coyuntura del cante jondo, lo que salvando las distancias, no solamente de tiempo, fueran Silverio y Chacón, los dos grandes castellanos del cante andaluz.
Autógrafo conseguido en la sala Clamores, justo antes de un recital que iba a dar.

EL CABRERO. José Domínguez Muñoz, más conocido como El Cabrero, es un cantaor flamenco nacido en Aznalcollar, Sevilla, en 1944 aunque su madre, Carmen Muñoz Frías es oriunda de El Casar de Escalona, provincia de Toledo y su padre José Domínguez Márquez, de Alájar (Huelva). Desde su infancia se dedicó al pastoreo de cabras, oficio que sigue ejerciendo a pesar de ser una de las figuras del flamenco más solicitadas en festivales y eventos relacionados con esta música. "Y cuando el tiempo me gane, ya cansado y para viejo, jugaré a pastor de nubes, y de zagal pondré al viento" de PASTOR DE NUBES 2011. (autógrafo firmado en la Luna Flamenca de Guaro, Málaga, antes de su actuación, y dedicado a mi padre).

PACO CEPERO. Francisco Cepero, Paco Cepero, es un guitarrista flamenco nacido en el Barrio de San Miguel, de Jerez de la Frontera (España) en 1942. En 1963 llega a Madrid y empieza a trabajar en el tablao de Manolo Caracol. La guitarra de Paco ha acompañado a muchos grandes del flamenco: Camarón de la Isla, El Lebrijano, Tío Borrico, El Terremoto, La Perla de Cádiz, etc. Autógrafo conseguido en un Teatro de Málaga tras una actuación.

MIKE LOVE AND BRUCE JOHNSTON SIGNED

LUGAR: hotel NH Ribera del Manzanares, Madrid.
EVENTO: rueda de prensa previa al concierto del día 15 de julio en los Veranos de la Villa, Madrid.

Mike Love es uno de los miembros fundadores de los legendarios Beach Boys. Puso voz a éxitos inigualables como Fun, Fun, Fun, Do It Again, o Get Around. Bruce Johnston se unió justo cuando Brian Wilson dejó de hacer giras, y tuvo el privilegio de participar en uno de los temas más importantes de la historia de la música popular, God Only Knows, grabando su voz junto con la de Brian Wilson en el final de la canción, detalle que no todo el mundo conoce. No sólo pude conseguir sus firmas, sino hablar un poco con Bruce sobre God Only Knows (incluso me tarareó un poco el estribillo, lo cual ya terminó de emocionarme). Otro auténtico tesoro para mi colección privada.

Bruce también quiso señalarme en que foto aparecía en la parte trasera del vinilo, y sin yo pedírselo firmó en dicha foto, tal y como se recoge en la imagen. Para terminar me preguntó si el disco era mono, le dije que sí, y me dijo "fantástico, es así como debes escucharlo, porque Brian Wilson estaba sordo de un oído, por lo que es un error escucharlo en estéreo".

Y aquí está la joya, el inigualable album de Pet Sounds firmado por dos de los componentes que participaron en la histórica grabación: Mike Love y Bruce Johnston.

ROD DAVIS SIGNED (The Quarrymen)

Rod Davis fue uno de los fundadores de The Quarrymen, el grupo que John Lennon formó estando matriculado en la Quarry Bank School en Liverpool. Realmente fue el primer grupo de John Lennon, el de su adolescencia, y por eso el valor sentimental de esta firma es inmensa. Rod Davis, aunque como personaje musical no tiene trascendencia alguna, vuelve a dar conciertos con los miembros originales de The Quarrymen para enseñar al mundo cómo era la música que tocaban con John Lennon cuando nadie lo conocía.

M. WARD SIGNED

Sometimes it is really difficult to get a good autograph when the person signing is walking at the same time... I went to M. Ward's latest show in Madrid and I don't know how to say this but... the first half of the show was superb, excellent, even moving... He's so good at the guitar, so good accompanying himself, so good playing with silence... When he said he would be singing some tunes from Hold Time I said to myself (here we gooo!!!!)... But neither For Beginners nor Jailbird were on the setlist... not even To Save Me... He decided to spend most of the show with his opening act (he was a great guy, don't get me wrong, but I didn't pay 30 euros to see him...). As I said, Ward decided to stay behind his opening act trying to show that he preferred to have fun with his fellow musicians rather than play the songs the audience came to hear... And at the end, after waiting for some long 20 minutes, he came out of the dressing room and signed my guitar and my concert ticket (although it was only me waiting, he didn't signed carefully and didn't give me a good example of his signature). Anyway, here it is... M. Ward's autograph, new in my collection.

By the way, listen to his music if you haven't yet, it is really good stuff. For those who don't know him...


M. Ward's rise to international renown has been something of a slow burn. Initially a well-kept secret of his peers in the Portland folk scene, his star continued to rise with each record's release, and he is now one of the most acclaimed American musicians of the decade. With 2003's Transfiguration of Vincent, his first recording for Merge, Ward's honey-soaked vocals, deft finger-picking, and beguiling lyrics caught the attention of fans like Bright Eyes and Rilo Kiley's Jenny Lewis, who invited him out on tour. 2005's Transistor Radio, a love letter to the golden age of AM radio, was a critical success, earning a plethora of excited reviews. He spent time touring with Conor Oberst and Jim James (of My Morning Jacket) playfully billing themselves as "The Monsters of Folk" and was taken out on the road with the White Stripes. 2007's Post-War was something of a breakthrough, landing Ward and his band on the late-night chat show performance circuit and winning the public praise of such disparate talents as Norah Jones and Oasis' Noel Gallagher, the former taking him on a global tour as her sole support act.

Whenever back home in Portland, Oregon, Ward was kept busy with the recording project of another fan-turned-friend, Zooey Deschanel. Her home-taped demos had been entrusted to him soon after they met, and the resulting full-length album, She & Him's Volume One, has enjoyed international success. Ward, the enigmatic "Him" of the equation, acted as producer, guitarist, and arranger on the album, providing the perfect setting in which Deschanel's fledgling songs could shine. Volume One was inspired by the sun-soaked sounds of '60s California pop, an altogether more up-tempo sound than Ward's fans were familiar with but one which proved his adaptability and cemented his reputation as a world-class producer.

Hold Time, released in February 2009, is an eloquent and startlingly beautiful album which includes guest performances by Jason Lytle, Lucinda Williams, Tom Hagerman of DeVotchka and Zooey Deschanel. While past critics have compared him to everyone from John Fahey to Tom Waits to his old friend Howe Gelb, with Hold Time it's clear that M. Ward, with his brilliant guitar playing and innate sense of melody, is one of those rare and special talents who defy comparisons and compartmentalization. Like a true American treasure, M. Ward cuts his own groove while music fans continue to fall under his whispered spell.
